Frequently asked questions.

What is The Bark & Sip?

The Bark & Sip is a premier dog park and bar concept that offers a unique and safe social environment for dog owners and their canine companions. It combines a spacious, supervised off-leash dog park with a full-service bar featuring craft beers, premium spirits, wines, and non-alcoholic beverages. Our mission is to foster a vibrant community where pet owners can socialize, relax, and enjoy quality time while their dogs play freely and safely.

Where is The Bark & Sip located?

The Bark & Sip will be located in Prince George's County, Maryland.

What makes The Bark & Sip different from a regular dog park or a dog-friendly bar?

Unlike traditional dog parks that often lack human amenities, or bars that only allow dogs on patios, The Bark & Sip seamlessly integrates both experiences. We offer a supervised environment with trained "Canine Coaches," strict cleanliness protocols, and a focus on community engagement, all while providing a full-service bar for human enjoyment.

Dog Park Access & Rules

Do I need a membership for my dog to enter the park?

While we encourage memberships for regular visits, day passes are also available for casual visitors. All dogs entering the park area, whether by membership or day pass, must go through our enrollment process.

What are the vaccination requirements for my dog?

For the safety of all guests, dogs must have current, verifiable veterinary records demonstrating proof of up-to-date vaccinations for Rabies (1-year or 3-year), Distemper/Parvo (DHPP/DA2PP), and Bordetella (Canine Cough). Canine Influenza (CIV H3N2 & H3N8) is highly recommended and may be required based on local prevalence.

Are there any other health requirements for my dog?

Yes, a negative fecal test result within the last 6 months is mandatory to prevent the spread of intestinal parasites. Dogs must also be free of fleas, ticks, and other external parasites upon arrival.

Does my dog need to be spayed or neutered?

Yes, confirmation of spay/neuter for all dogs over 6 months of age is strictly required.

How do you ensure the dogs' safety in the park? Our park features supervised play by trained "Canine Coaches" who are always on-site to monitor dog behavior, ensure safety, and intervene in conflicts. We also have strict vaccination requirements, behavioral assessments for new dogs, and clear park rules.

What is a behavioral assessment/temperament test?

For new membership applications, a mandatory, pre-scheduled behavioral assessment (30-60 minutes) will be conducted by our trained Canine Coaches during your dog's first visit. This allows staff to observe your dog's temperament, social skills, energy level, and play style in a controlled environment.

Can I bring my puppy?

Puppies are generally welcome once they meet all vaccination requirements and are old enough for their behavioral assessment. Please refer to our full rules for specific age guidelines related to vaccinations and spay/neuter status.

What kind of collars and leashes are allowed?

We require flat, quick-release collars and standard leashes in play areas. Aversive tools like prong or choke collars are not permitted in the dog park play areas.

Human Guest Policies

Is The Bark & Sip a 21 and over facility?

Yes, The Bark & Sip is strictly a 21 and over facility. You must present a valid ID for entry, and persons under 21, including infants or children, are prohibited from entering.

Do I have to own a dog to visit The Bark & Sip?

No, the bar area is open to anyone who loves dogs and drinks, not just dog owners. However, access to the off-leash dog park area requires you to be accompanied by an enrolled dog.

What kind of beverages and snacks will be available?

Our full-service bar will offer a rotating selection of local and regional craft beers on tap, a curated selection of wines, and a carefully chosen selection of popular spirits for cocktails. We will also have pre-packaged light snacks for human consumption.
